Helios, Quantinuum’s latest trapped-ion system, will physically sit inside an Oracle AI data center in the US and plug directly into OCI’s networking, storage, identity, and data services.

Neither company disclosed financial terms or a firm launch date. Oracle says a preview of the quantum service is coming in the next few months, which is about as specific as either side is willing to get right now.

What makes this interesting isn’t that Oracle is doing something totally novel. It’s actually the fourth major cloud provider to offer quantum access this way, following AWS, Microsoft, and IBM. Quantinuum’s own hardware is already available through Azure Quantum, so this isn’t even the first time Helios-class systems have shown up in a major cloud. What’s different here is the integration depth Oracle is promising, treating quantum processing as just another resource sitting inside the same environment customers already use for everything else, governed by the same access controls and identity systems.

The bigger idea behind all this is hybrid computing, where classical processors handle most of a workload and only route specific tasks to a quantum processor. AWS already runs something similar through Amazon Braket Hybrid Jobs. Oracle’s version will pair Quantinuum’s software stack with open-source hybrid programming frameworks, giving developers a path to build and test applications before actually running anything on real quantum hardware.

As for Helios itself, Quantinuum launched it commercially back in November 2025. It runs 98 physical qubits and researchers have demonstrated it with 48 logical qubits, posting an average two-qubit gate fidelity of 99.921%, a fairly strong accuracy number by current quantum standards.

Quantinuum CEO Rajeeb Hazra framed the partnership around where enterprise computing is heading next, arguing that quantum, AI, and high-performance computing are converging rather than staying siloed. Oracle’s Mahesh Thiagarajan echoed a similar idea, describing the goal as giving developers a practical way to test how quantum computing might complement AI and HPC workloads they’re already running.

The companies say they’re eyeing use cases in materials research, drug development, logistics, energy, and financial modeling, though none of that moves past the exploratory stage until Helios actually goes live inside OCI.

Oracle and Quantinuum just struck a multi-year deal that puts real quantum hardware inside Oracle’s cloud, right alongside the GPUs and standard compute customers already use.
