The product runs on OpenStack and targets companies that have outgrown traditional VPS or dedicated server setups but aren’t thrilled with what they’re getting from AWS, Google Cloud, or VMware at scale.

The core pitch is management, not just infrastructure. Most cloud providers use a shared responsibility model, meaning customers still handle a chunk of the security and configuration work themselves. InMotion Cloud skips that entirely: the company’s own engineers manage the whole stack, including hardware provisioning, hypervisor and OS patching, network configuration, security monitoring, and storage, rather than leaving any of it to the customer’s IT team.

Customers still get the flexibility that makes cloud infrastructure useful. They can create and resize virtual machines as needed, but with dedicated hardware behind everything and no egress fees, a cost that tends to sneak up on companies moving large amounts of data in and out of hyperscale platforms.

Dan Cunningham, InMotion’s Chief Revenue Officer, said the company built this specifically for customers who kept hitting the same wall: outgrowing every hosting tier before them, then landing on AWS or GCP and discovering the support quality didn’t match the price tag. InMotion Cloud, he said, delivers the same engineering team and infrastructure ownership the company has relied on for 25 years, just packaged at cloud scale.

Pricing starts at $399 a month for a limited time on the entry-level Explorer plan, which includes 24 vCPUs, 82 GB of RAM, and 1.7 TB of storage, along with senior engineer onboarding. Larger configurations serve enterprise workloads, and every plan carries a guarantee: if performance falls short of what InMotion agreed to, customers get up to 50% in additional resources at no extra cost. InMotion also includes migration support for businesses moving from AWS, Google Cloud, VMware, or their own on-premises setups.

The pattern is familiar to anyone who’s watched a growing company’s infrastructure bills climb: start on shared hosting, move to a VPS, upgrade to dedicated servers, then jump to AWS or Google Cloud expecting relief, only to find the invoices getting bigger while the support gets thinner.
