Practically, that means Oracle now has to run resilience tests on its systems and notify regulators quickly if something breaks, the same kind of scrutiny already applied to Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, whose cloud platforms also underpin core banking and payments infrastructure in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">The designation exists because financial regulators have grown increasingly aware that a handful of cloud companies now sit underneath an enormous share of banking, payments, and insurance operations. If one of those providers has a bad outage, the damage doesn&#8217;t stay contained to that one company, it ripples into the accounts and transactions of ordinary people who&#8217;ve never heard of Oracle.
