Banks, hospitals, utilities and government bodies across the EU have faced growing pressure to prove not just that their data is compliant on paper, but that Europe itself hosts and processes it, full stop. AWS designed its <a href=\"https:\/\/hostingdiscussion.com\/news\/8735-2\/\">sovereign cloud<\/a>, which runs independently of the company&#8217;s other infrastructure and enforces strict data residency controls, with exactly that requirement in mind. Rubrik&#8217;s decision to run its platform on top of it lets customers get immutable backups, rapid recovery and AI-driven threat detection while staying inside those boundaries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">That distinction matters more than it might sound. A lot of vendors talk about compliance through contracts and legal guarantees, but regulators in sectors like banking and healthcare have started asking harder questions about where data physically sits and who can access it. <a href=\"https:\/\/hostingdiscussion.com\/news\/rubrik-wants-your-cloud-recovery-plan-ready-before-attack-starts\/\">Rubrik<\/a> built the setup to satisfy frameworks including <a href=\"https:\/\/hostingdiscussion.com\/news\/germany-draws-a-hard-line-on-cloud-sovereignty-as-european-hyperscaler-dependence-grows-uncomfortable\/\">Germany&#8217;s BSI C5 catalogue<\/a>, the EU&#8217;s DORA rules for financial resilience, and the NIS2 directive on cybersecurity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">&#8220;By bringing Rubrik Security Cloud to the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, we are expanding our trusted sovereign portfolio,&#8221; said Mike Tornincasa, Rubrik&#8217;s chief business officer, adding that the goal is to give teams moving regulated workloads to the cloud the same recovery guarantees they&#8217;d expect on premises.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-claude-response-body break-words whitespace-normal\">The launch follows a run of product updates Rubrik unveiled at its Forward 2026 event earlier this year, including tools that automate multi-cloud recovery and an AI system focused specifically on cyber incident response.
