The first tier, Engineering Compute, handles development and testing work that never touches real patient data. Production Compute covers things like scheduling systems and patient portals, where some exposure to protected health information exists but stays limited. The third tier, Protected Compute, targets the riskiest workloads specifically: electronic health records, telehealth platforms, medical imaging, and clinical data warehouses.<\/p>\n

That structure isn’t arbitrary. It mirrors how a lot of healthcare IT<\/a> departments already organize their systems internally, separating low-risk development environments from the systems that actually carry sensitive patient information. Hivelocity is essentially formalizing a pattern healthcare teams have been building on their own for years, just with dedicated hardware behind each tier instead of shared cloud resources.<\/p>\n

Whether this finds real traction probably depends on how many healthcare organizations actually feel underserved by public cloud<\/a> options right now.
